Mençuna Lodges is a small accommodation property in the Arhavi district of Artvin, at the entrance to Kamilet Valley — a place locals have long called a hidden corner of the Eastern Black Sea.
We sit directly across from the Mençuna Waterfall, which drops roughly 90 metres. A stream runs in front of the buildings; the sound of it is constant, and most guests say it is what they remember afterwards. The surrounding forest is beech and chestnut, dense enough that the valley stays noticeably cooler than the coast even in high summer.
Two kinds of accommodation. Our wooden bungalow suites are 32 m² with two separate bedrooms and a wide balcony facing the waterfall, sleeping up to five. Our stone lodge rooms are built from local stone with timber interiors, sleep two, and each has a private veranda.
Every stay includes a regional Black Sea breakfast — village eggs, homemade jams, local cheeses, honey and unlimited tea. Guests may use the barbecue and kitchen freely.
We have added a 36 m² restaurant enclosed entirely in glass, with a 50 m² open wooden terrace alongside it. A traditional wood stove heats the indoor space, which matters on cool valley evenings in spring and autumn.
Kamilet Valley is a protected natural area and we would like it to stay that way. We ask guests not to light fires outside designated areas and to carry their rubbish back out. Nothing about the property is designed to compete with the valley — the point is to be in it.
We are open from 21 March to 30 November. Outside those dates the mountain road and weather make access unreliable, so we close.
